Careers

How will you spend your 90,000 hours?

The average person will spend 90,000 hours working in a career over the course of their lifetime to support themselves and their family.

Unfortunately, for many people those hours are largely spent unfulfilled and working simply to make a basic living. While supporting a family is honorable in and of itself, too often the sacrifices of hard work and service to a company go unacknowledged. Using people for profit, and simply trading time for money is the situation many companies and employees find themselves in today’s economy and workforce.

The best mission-driven organizations are setup to both nourish their employees, allow the business to thrive, and stay focused on a purpose greater than profit.

You shouldn’t have to choose between making a living, and making a difference. Our mission-driven organization is helping children find homes, families, and futures. We happen to produce and sell beautiful flooring to make it happen.

We don’t exist to make flooring, profits, or jobs. Our mission is:

We are working for the day every child has a home.

I want everyone who joins our team to be confident that at the end of their lives, they can know the work they did each day made a difference in the lives of children all over the world.

Who We Are Looking For

When we look to add people to our team, there are certain universal character traits we desire that will help us stay healthy and working together towards our mission.

This Ideal Team Player framework was developed by Patrick Lencioni. It guides our evaluation of potential candidates and the development of our current staff.

The Ideal Team Player

The Ideal RW Team Player works hard to stay humble, hungry, and smart.

The person who exhibits all three behaviors is the model citizen of the RW culture. These people work in a way that unlocks the full potential of their teams and ultimately the organization. This framework is both the standard by which we evaluate candidates but also the rubric by which we will continue to develop our current staff.
