Bargain Mansions Belinder House

Durango Floor in Bargain Mansions Belinder House

We were honored to be a part of Kansas City designer Tamara Day’s show “Bargain Mansions.” The last project of season two, the Belinder House, featured Durango “Barley” throughout the Leawood, KS, home.

A mother of four, Day started her design business, Growing Days, in 2008 after restoring furniture for her own home. She continues renovating homes in Kansas City with her father, Ward Schraeder, who also co-hosts “Bargain Mansions” on the DIY Network.

As a Kansas City native, Day partners with local businesses and artists for her renovations. We’re excited to be one of her preferred vendors along with a long list of great businesses in the area.

The Belinder House Transformation

“Bargain Mansions” showed the home’s transformation from a subdued ranch to an eye-catching, two floor modern home.
In a video interview with The Kansas City Star, Day says, “In our bargain mansions, I like to preserve the history of the home, but also upgrade it a little bit, to give a more modern feeling home.”

During the renovation, Day built a second floor with a loft, two bedrooms, and another bath to expand the square footage.
Installed in the main living spaces, hallways, staircase, and even a bathroom, Durango “Barley” adds warmth to the overall design.

While the floor was being installed, Day stopped by to see the progress and nail down some of the flooring in the living room. One of our Kansas City customers, Mike Rangel with Midwest Hardwoods, was the installer on the project.

Day took a subdued ranch in Leawood, KS, and transformed it into a modern, two story home. She works on fixer-upper type of homes in the Kansas City area.

The handscraped wood complemented the other flooring, including marble tile and carpet in the upstairs bedrooms. Additionally, Day designed the home with a modern, sophisticated style that beautifully goes with Durango’s rustic look.

The Belinder House also hosted a public open house where fans of the show could shop the home. Everything was for sale, from furniture to bedding to wall décor. We stopped by and were thrilled to see how great the floor looked in the Belinder house.
